Honey mustard dressing brings together the sweetness of honey, the tang and spice of Dijon mustard, the brightness of lemon juice, and the creaminess of mayo for a delectable dressing that upgrades any savory meal. It’s a great way to dress up a salad or nearly any protein but it can do double duty as a dipping sauce, too.

Ingredients

All you need are a few simple ingredients to whip up this sweet and tangy dressing.

  • Mayonnaise – Mayo makes up the creamy base of the dressing.
  • Dijon Mustard – You can’t have honey mustard without the mustard! Dijon gives it a tangy and slightly spicy flavor.
  • Honey – Honey gives the dressing its signature sweetness.
  • Fresh Lemon Juice – The acidity of lemon balances out the other ingredients.
  • Fine Sea Salt – Salt brings out the flavors of the mustard and honey.
  • Mustard Seeds – This optional addition gives the dressing a bit of crunchy texture.

Variations

There’s no shortage of ways that you can change up this easy honey mustard dressing!

  • Whole Grain Mustard – Skip adding the mustard seeds and use whole grain mustard instead.
  • Yogurt – Swap out some or all of the mayo for Greek yogurt.
  • Heat – Sprinkle in some cayenne pepper powder or add a dash of hot sauce to give the dressing a spicier kick. Or for subtle heat, shake in some black pepper.
  • Syrup – Substitute maple syrup for the honey.
  • Vinegar – Instead of lemon juice, use apple cider vinegar to give the dressing some tanginess. Or try white wine vinegar for an elevated version.
  • Herbs – Add fresh parsley or other fresh herbs for added flavor.
  • Yellow Mustard – For a more crisp and tart dressing trade out some or all of the Dijon mustard for yellow mustard.
  • Garlic – Add some savory flavor with a pinch or two of garlic powder.

What To Serve With Honey Mustard Dressing

There are so many ways to use this easy dressing! Spoon it over a simple salad, use it as a dip for pretzels, chicken nuggets, chicken tenders, and turkey pinwheels, spread it on sandwiches or burgers, or toss it with roasted vegetables, potatoes, or green beans

You can even use it to give morning meals like breakfast sandwiches and scrambled eggs a boost of flavor or you can upgrade dinnertime by using it on chicken, pork, ham, or seafood. Or use it as a dipping sauce for an Air Fryer Grilled Cheese or keto grilled cheese or on one pot meals like this one pot smoked sausage.
